🛳️ Cruiser’s News: What’s Making Waves This Week

April 7, 2026

From jaw-dropping suite prices to a few cruise rumors that got a little out of hand… here’s what cruisers are talking about right now.

🌳 Royal Caribbean’s Treehouse Suite Price Tag Is Turning Heads

If you’ve ever wondered how far cruise luxury can go… apparently, this far.

Royal Caribbean is making headlines with its new Ultimate Family Treehouse suite, reportedly costing anywhere from $90,000 to over $200,000 per week depending on the sailing.

This multi-level suite includes:

  • A private whirlpool
  • Slide and kids’ space
  • Movie room and gaming area
  • Rooftop terrace

And somehow… it’s already booking.

It’s one of those stories that makes you pause and go, wait… is that real? (It is.)

🦆 Carnival Cruise Line’s April Fools Jokes Caused a Stir

Carnival had a little fun for April Fools’ Day… but not everyone was laughing.

Rumors started circulating about:

  • A ban on cruise ducks
  • Changes to loyalty perks

The problem? Some guests thought it was real.

Carnival eventually stepped in to clear things up, but it’s a good reminder of how quickly cruise news (real or not) spreads online.

🏔️ Tracy Arm Fjord Visits Being Adjusted on Some Sailings

Some cruise lines have started removing Tracy Arm Fjord from select itineraries, mostly due to ice and navigation conditions.

But here’s the part that doesn’t always make the headlines…

On my own Alaska cruise last summer, we weren’t able to visit Tracy Arm Fjord either - and honestly, it wasn’t a big deal. We were rerouted to Endicott Fjord and saw Dawes Glacier instead, and it was still an incredible experience.

It’s a good reminder that in Alaska especially, nature is always in charge - and sometimes those last-minute changes still turn into something really memorable.

❌ Itinerary Changes & Cancellations Continue

We’re also seeing more cruise cancellations and ship redeployments pop up.

This isn’t unusual - cruise lines regularly shift ships based on demand - but it can still be frustrating if it impacts your plans.

It’s a good reminder to:

  • Keep an eye on emails from your cruise line
  • Consider travel protection when booking

🚢 Bigger Ships, Bigger Experiences

And in case it wasn’t already obvious… the “bigger is better” trend isn’t slowing down.

New ships are pushing limits with:

  • More pools than ever
  • Expanded dining options
  • Over-the-top suite experiences (see: treehouse 👀)

Cruising is continuing to blur the line between ship and full-scale resort.

💬 Final Thoughts

This week feels like a mix of “wow,” “wait… what?” and “good to know.”

  • The luxury side of cruising keeps stretching
  • Social media rumors are doing their thing
  • And Alaska itineraries are reminding us that nature still calls the shots
